What can I say about this picture except, if you think the picture is cool you should have seen it live, and not only live but up close and personal! Glory to jesus! I tell you, its hard for me to take time like this to wind down – I get so purpose-focused and always so aware of how much there is to be done. Even now, I’ve been here in the South African bush country for a couple days already, and am just now feeling myself begin to relax into it. Of course the animal sightings go a long way in helping that. Truly, they take my breath away. Just minutes before I snapped this giraffe I was literally surrounded by elephants. Seriously, within 20 or 30 feet, all around me, two babies and everything (sorry I used my real camera to shoot them and got so carried away I forgot to snap one for you!). It was so exciting I had to remind myself to breathe. Then I could see one of the bulls was a little anxious about me, probably because of the babies. In the way they do, he let me know he was boss and you can bet I let him know I understood. But as dangerous as that sounds and as dangerous as it surely can be, it totally adds to the thrill of it all! But there are times -like today – when I look at my life and realize what a grand adventure God has made of it. In the past 10 days I’ve seen who-knows-how-many souls come into God’s kingdom. I’ve heard testimony upon testimony of this, that and the other work God has done. I stood surrounded by dancing/singing South Africans as we cut the ribbon on a new church building which will serve the village of Erasmus for generations to come. I could go on and on….and now here I sit in the African bush, enjoying what makes me think the Garden of Eden must surely have been like – and at the same time corresponding with exec producers back home unto a Gospel film that will surely save countless souls once we get it done – and that, thanks to this Blackberry! I mean, as astounding as it all is, that’s how hilarious. And the bottom line, I can only praise god for every bit of it. I stand as a living testimony that he always does “exceedingly and abundantly” above and beyond anything we could possibly dream of; a living testimony to the sureness of his whisper, “I have plans for your life that are beyond your wildest imaginings!” Yes, there are many times when I lose sight of that. There are times when the JOHN road seems much too long and the sacrifices too many. There are times, especially when I find myself extremely tired, when I start mulling what could have been if I’d made different choices following MATTHEW. But hey, I’m only human, and aren’t we all. But today – today on the heels of a week of salvation, on the heels of experiencing the African bush like this, when most of the world only gets to see such breathtaking wonders on their tv screens… I am so totally blown away. Thank you so much, Lord! Thank you so, SO much! Looking up and looking forward! Glory to Jesus!
